The basics of a Fil-Chi wedding

Since both of us are Filipino Chinese, there are traditions and customs that are quite err... let's just leave it as a bit complex.

First and foremost is the date. We don't chose date that we would most likely to celebrate in the future nor date that has a special meaning for us, instead our family excitedly went straight to a chinese fortune teller and ask him what date would best benifit for both of our family, the fortune teller slowly browse through his magic lunar calendar book while peering through his glasses murmurs 'hmm... hmm...' then finally shouted 'aha!' The date is set on the last sunday of October at exactly 3:00pm not a minute nor a second before.

The date has been decided so we need to find a church and a reception venue that SHOULD cater Chinese lauriat food, it just isn't acceptable if it's not Chinese lauriat (I wonder why?). After a hundred phone calls to various churches and different reception venue, we were told our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th...nth choice of venues are already full and that is because the date is really lucky... gah! never mind. So we race and search for another and finally we found one the church and the reception is located on 2 different city, 1hour drive is really not a problem because the date is lucky and we would be lucky...*sigh.

But of course, maybe there's some reality behind that... which I have been trying to convince myself ever since I paid the down payment fee for both of the venues, and all my fiance do is just roll his eyes while I tried my best to feel all the luck the date is bringing us.
